Physical Education Department Overview
Objectives The SACSS Physical Education (PE) Department aims to develop our students' physical, mental, emotional, and psychosocial well-being through a systematic and inclusive, modular PE program. Our goal is to develop physically competent and confident individuals who enjoy a lifetime of active and healthy living, safely and responsibly, while supporting the development of 21st Century Competencies (21CC). |
Approach
|
Programmes With the knowledge and skills gained through the modules, students are required to apply their learning in authentic contexts through a culminating activity for each module. The department also organizes two school-wide events: Jogathon and Sports Day. Jogathon, our annual cross-country event, provides an opportunity for students to come together as a class and compete in long-distance running, developing resilience. Our annual Sports Day also features students competing in shorter distance races and team events, ultimately vying to be champion classes, promoting school spirit. To promote and support healthier living, the department also organises the MOVE programme and Free Play initiatives, providing opportunities and encouraging students to be more physically active. |
